New and/or Continuing WCF Projects

At all our club meetings, the following items will be collected for donation or recycling: paper products (paper towels NOT needed) for donation to SKO (Welfare Committee); recycling of old pill bottles (please see below for bottle cleaning instructions - Cheryl) and old glasses (Maria).
The Welfare Committee visited Epic House in September bringing 2 platters of homemade goodies. Rosemary baked her special cookies and Judy brownies. The residents were so happy to know someone is making a fuss over them. The next visit will be before Thanksgiving when a basket of small gifts and again some homemade treats will be prepared. If anyone has a mid-size basket they would like to donate, please let Rosemary or Judy know and they would be happy to pick it up. Purchasing baskets has become cost prohibitive.
Directions for Recycling old Pill Bottles: If you wish to prepare bottles for shipment, please adhere to the following guidelines: Bottles included in shipments of medical supplies must have an all-plastic lid. Sort bottles by color and type. Remove labels, leaving no glue or residue. Wash bottles in very hot water and dish soap. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Replace lids on clean, dried bottles. Clean pill bottles will be collected at every meeting. A committee will be formed to package the pill bottles in zip lock bags marked "Clean Bottles" and then mailed to: Matthew 25 Ministries 11060 Kenwood Road Cincinnati, OH 45242. Cheryl Parisi is collecting these at all meetings.
For Our Club: This pill bottle program fulfills the dual needs of improving medical care in developing countries and caring for the environment. Public Issues & Environmental Conservation initiatives will be credited to The Farmingdale Woman’s Club with reports at the end of this year.
The Craft Club, under the direction of Nancy Carman, will be sewing pillowcases for hospitalized children. This program is run by a non-profit organization called Ryans Cases for Smiles (Casesforsmiles.org). Unfortunately, the number of children that are sick never seems to get smaller but the cost of supplies to make these pillowcases keeps rising. And for these kids to get these “smiles”....PRICELESS! Maybe we can find a ton of kindness and generosity in our hearts to contribute a small donation of either 1 or 2 yards of cotton fabric or a donation to buy the materials needed. Lets make this year’s Craft project a winner and a huge Smile for Ryans Cases. Any questions, donations or volunteers to sew, please contact Nancy.
