NO EXCUSE FOR CHILD ABUSE - PINWHEELS On Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7, members of the Women's Club of Farmingdale met at the Farmingdale Village Green fountain to "plant" blue pinwheels as part of a Prevention of Child Abuse awareness program. This was the perfect location for a pinwheel garden since the fountain was part of a WCF community project donation.
This child abuse awareness program is the Special Project of GFWC-NYS President Candace Edwards (General Federation of Women's Clubs) and on the local level Tina Diamond, WCF Past President. Pinwheels were purchased by WCF members, community organizations and family and friends. As part of this project, at their February meeting, the women's club hosted a speaker from The Safe Center LI. It is the only agency in Nassau County to provide comprehensive services to victims of domestic abuse, child abuse and sexual assault. Donations are earmarked for Prevent Child Abuse America in Chicago and The safe Center LI in Bethpage. |
